To complement the public incense gatherings that will be held separately at the Nitobe Memorial Garden and UBC Asian Centre on the weekend, we are pleased to present a panel of three honoured guests from Japan who will be speaking on a range of topics related to Japanese incense culture, from history, to arts, to contemporary practice.

Symposium attendees are also welcome to attend a special display of recent acquisitions of Edo-period poem cards, calligraphic works, and narrative illustrations from the UBC Library Rare Books and Special Collections before the symposium. Please note that to protect the collections, the maximum capacity of visitors in the viewing room will be limited. Please allow extra time if you wish to view the collections.
